Q. What is the safety concern for this recall?
A. This recall was issued to replace the timing chain, guides and crankshaft sprocket on these specific vehicles.
Q. What is the possible effect of this condition?
A. On some affected vehicles, the timing chain may distort and possibly deteriorate over time . If this occurs, abnormal noises can be heard coming from the engine, which may sound like a rattle or ticking. If these engine noise continues, damage can occur over time.
Q. What will be the corrective action for this voluntary safety recall campaign?
A. The timing chain, crankshaft sprocket and guides will be replaced at INFINITI dealers. INFINITI is performing this repair at no charge to affected clients for parts or labor to help ensure continued satisfaction with their INFINITI vehicle.
Q. How long will the corrective action take?
A. This recall can take a full day or two to complete. Please keep in mind that this depends on the Service Center's schedule for the day. Contact us ahead of time to get a more accurate detail for scheduling purposes.
Q. Will a rental vehicle be provided while Plaza INFINITI is servicing the vehicle?
A. Yes, a rental car can be provided. Please be advised, you should call ahead as the rental car service will be on a first come first serve basis. Should we not have one available, your service can be completed at another date in the near future when a car is available.
Q. When will vehicle owners be notified?
A. Affected vehicle owners will receive communication in the mail from INFINITI beginning the week of May 6, 2016.
Q. Are parts readily available?
A. Yes, INFINITI has begun sending multiple shipments to dealers so that the service can be performed. More parts shipment information can be obtained by contacting Plaza INFINITI.
Q. Will I be charged for this repair?
A. No. The repair is free of charge to you. You will not incur any parts or labor charges for this repair.
Q. I bought my INFINITI at another INFINITI dealership. Will Plaza INFINITI perform the repair?
A. Yes - any authorized INFINITI dealer will perform the repair for you, regardless of where you purchased the vehicle.
Q. I have lost confidence in the vehicle. Will INFINITI repurchase or replace this vehicle?
A. Since Plaza INFINITI confirms correct operation of the latch once it is installed, there is no basis for Plaza INFINITI to replace or repurchase your INFINITI vehicle.
Q. What model years are affected?
A. The INFINITI QX56 SUVs and M56 sedans from model year 2011-2013 are the ones included in this recall. However, only a select number of INFINITI's from those model years are effected. You will be notified by mail if yours is included.
